4A (Aniser 2013-2017)

2. Londonreise

In April 2016, a group of 23 students from grades 6 to 7 embarked on a unique journey to London, accompanied by their teachers, Gabrielle Amestoy, Daniel Aniser and Sahriban Kara. The trip aimed to expose the students to the English language and culture, and it proved to be a resounding success.

All the students who participated in the trip attend additional English classes with native speaker Gabrielle Amestoy. The extra lessons, which take place once a week, are popular among the school’s language enthusiasts. Amestoy’s expertise in teaching English as a foreign language had prepared the young students well for the trip.

Moreover, one of the school’s English-speaking students, Alistair Mimm, who had previously attended school in England, joined the trip. Together with Amestoy, we spoke only English, and it appears that the experience of speaking English was enjoyable and stress-free for the students. According to Dogukan Erdem, “I have never spoken so much English, and now I even dream in English.”

The group visited various sights and landmarks in London, including the London Eye, Tower Bridge, and the famous Big Ben. The students also visited the Kensington Palace and had a guided tour designed specifically for children. Another highlight of the trip was a visit to the Cutty Sark⚓.

The students had the opportunity to give presentations on the different sights they visited, which showcased their newfound language skills and confidence in public speaking.

The trip was a success and achieved its goal of immersing the students in the English language and culture. The young students returned home enriched by a memorable experience that they will cherish for years to come.
